Recorded at Teatro Real in Madrid, this production of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda casts Aigul Akhmetshina as Elisabetta opposite Lisette Oropesa's Maria Stuarda, in David McVicar's acclaimed staging of the doomed rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots. Conducted by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, the production was released on Blu-ray and DVD by Naxos in July 2026. Reviewing the release, BBC Music Magazine praised Akhmetshina's commanding, richly coloured take on Elisabetta, awarding the production 4 out of 5 stars.
